I love video games. I remember the old days when I played Asteroids on Atari. I also remember Pac-Man and the arcades my friends and me have been to. We've saved up our week's allowance and spend it all playing arcade games.
I've graduated from Atari, Nintendo Game & Watch, Nintendo, Sega, Super NES, Neo Geo, Playstation, PS2. A few months back I sold my PS2 with about 30 original games and other accessories. I think I've really graduated from it. But, I still play PC games. I think PC games will be an integral part of my life 'til I get really old.
The difference with PC games is the intensity. It's like being one with the game and the machine. The games also tend to lean toward promoting new software, hardware, and engine technology. Graphics are better. Now, the new gig is multiplayer online games. From Text MUD games like Dragon's Gate to the infamous EverQuest - well it has been around for some time now. I've actually had a chance to taste cybersex thru EQ - and it's not a man behind the computer. I've actually talked to the player. We've got almost a 10 year age difference, and outside of the game, we're just friends. Now, there hasn’t been any exciting Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) for me lately. I've tried Dark Ages of Camelot, Star Wars Galaxies, Horizons, and Final Fantasy XI Online. I don't find the same excitement I had with EQ, so I'm waiting for EQ2 and Middle-Earth Online (LOTR)!
While waiting for these two games, I play First Person Shooting (FPS) Games. I've been playing FPS since Doom and other Nintendo classics. Eighty of my PC games are FPS. I remember when James Bond came out in the Nintendo 64. We'd play 4 players against each other - that's when I really found my talent in FPS. I got so good at the game that the other 3 players would always gang up on me and I'd still wipe them out. I'd have 20 plus kills while they'd have a total of 6 to 10 on me. Now every time we met up, a line of peeps would form just to see if they could beat me. No one so far.
Now, of all the Multiplayer Online FPS games, Return to Castle Wolfenstein pushed me into loving the WW2 FPS themes. I did really well in RTCW. I always was in the top 10, but I also had so many deaths because I loved rushing in. But, after playing Battlefield 1942- RTCW seemed so unrealistic like Quake - I'm not sure if there are hacks that made players cheat to get many kills, I'm sure there is something. That's why I'm still in love with BF1942 since they've got Punk Buster, an anti-cheat program.
I play BF1942 to relieve real-life stress. I go by the name G H O S T and seventy percent of the time, I play a sniper. It just depends on the battlefield we are playing on. Before, I rarely play a sniper because it is really tough to get high kills. You have little ammo and you can frequently miss because of the fast moving targets. It’s hard to find a decent hiding place as well. Also, when up close against an opponent, you could easily get killed because most of the time, he or she is holding an assault rifle. So it's a tough position to play. But, the rewarding part is the challenge and the intensity. Especially now that Battlefield Vietnam is out. I have not been playing the regular BF1942/Desert Combat series since I'm totally hooked to BFV.
In this Blog, aside from my favorite games or games I've played, I'll be noting my game time day as a journal of a sniper named G H O S T. I'll post game kills and ranking and some screenshots from the game.
Now, I don't promote violence, but since I play paintball in real-life, FPS games just helps me out in understanding human actions in war games. I've actually done pretty well in Woodlands paintball too. I also don't smoke, drink, hangout at strip joints, or other guy thing. I'm addicted to PC games. And, while my fiancée is out in another country for more than a year, I'd rather play PC Games than with other women.
Have fun viewing this Blog.
