My lolo (grandfather) passed away yesterday around 1:40 pm PST. I was fortunate enough to see him when Miko, Ott and I visited my Aunt last August. Five years ago my lola (grandmother) succumb to aneurysm while in sleep, at 89. For my lolo, I felt better that his time came, at least now they will be both together again. One turning point in my pre-adolescent life, I learned the importance and pride of being a gentleman. I remember about close to two decades back when they visited us in Manila. He was always protective of my lola. He always wanted me to accompany her instead of him-he had knee surgery before visiting. He also makes sure that when it came to breakfast, lunch, or dinner, that my lola and mom be served first. He made sure that women were treated politely at all times. At times I would see him put my grandma’s hands in his-at that late age. Loyalty was his pride. Anyway, he inspired me to always be a gentleman especially among women. Cheers lolo.
